Today, a website is not enough to convince audiences to buy into your brand and build customer trust. Social media is increasingly valuable and is the norm when creating an online presence for your business. It is becoming an alternative to a website and a fantastic networking tool to generate fruitful prospects, subscribers, and sales. The big question many of us may ask is, “How do I turn my social media into a sales-generating platform, and how can my business succeed using social media?”
Whether you are a newbie to social media or struggling to generate results through your social media, I share with you some tips on how to maximise the success of your social media for your business so that you secure those all-important sales and opportunities to grow your business.
1. Know your AUDIENCE
Before creating content, you must KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE first. Know everything about your audience, especially their GOALS, NEEDS, LIFESTYLES, VALUES, and PROBLEMS. The more you know your audience, the more accurate and aligned your content will be with your audience’s needs, problems, and goals- this allows audiences to easily connect with your brand and buy into your product or service. Audiences love brands they can identify with, reflect their values, and relate to their problems.
2. Have the RIGHT LOOK
First impressions count, and nothing beats creating the right look. Creating the right look helps your business not only stand out from your competitors but also appear professional. A professional, well-structured social presence shows that you are serious about doing business with your customers, and it also triggers audiences to take you seriously as a business.
Think about your brand colours, logos, and any key graphics that make up your business's strong, memorable presence. Think about what mood you are creating. Your choice of colours must also reflect the nature of your business. For example, if you are a wellness coach, think of shades of green and other nature-based colours that convey good health. If you are an accountancy or law firm, formal colours of blue, white, and black would best convey professionalism and trustworthiness.
3. Be CONSISTENT
You may have excellent content, but one of the most essential social media success factors is to be consistent in posting content; this can be posting three to five posts a week. The more consistent you are with your content, the fuller the picture of your business will be to convince audiences to buy into you, and the greater your chances of drawing in more engagement and building trust and connection from your audience. Audiences are more likely to engage with brands that are more active and consistent compared to those that post less than once a week.
4. Have the right KEYWORDS and HASHTAGS in your content
Hashtags and keywords are essential for your post captions to maximise conversions from your social media, especially when you are using platforms like Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok. When writing up texts, ensure you insert the right keywords relevant to the nature of your business that your target audiences will most likely want to search and look up. This is where knowing the tastes, needs, and goals of your audience is essential and will help you come up with relevant keywords.
5. ENGAGE with your audience
Do you have consistent quality content and struggle to gain sales, interest, and engagement? Ask yourself, “How often do I engage with my audience and new followers?” Engaging with your audience is the most important step in maximising the success of your whole social media presence.
Engage with those who have liked and commented on your posts and those who have directly messaged you, and do reach out to your new followers. However, this does NOT have to be everyone who engages with you. Only engage with those who fit your IDEAL CUSTOMER profile or with whom you want to form a potential collaboration. The key is to start a conversation with your newly found connections; get to know them, identify their goals and needs and see how you can serve them using your expertise. All great things happen when you start making those important connections. 50% of good marketing is all about creating fruitful relationships.
6. Have a CALL TO ACTION!
Ensure your social media posts have a CALL TO ACTION to encourage audiences to interact with you and direct them towards your service or product. Where would you like your audiences to go? It can be subscribing to your mailing list, visiting your website to place an order, signing up for your event, or following and connecting with you on your other social media channels. Ensure you add relevant links that are easy to access by inserting them in your posts and on your profile pages. Creating open discussions is a great way to trigger engagement, too.
Final tips
Finally, what works for a particular social channel may not work well for another channel, so it is important to vary your content strategy for each social media channel you use. Each channel is different, so ensure you keep to the format of your chosen channel to maximise impact.
Whether you are using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc., maintaining a balance between quality, consistent content, regular audience engagement, and relevant calls to action increases your chances of generating sales and opportunities. Social media is an excellent tool designed for you to not just sell and feature yourself but master the craft of relationship building.
If you can create consistent quality content and fruitful connections, you are on your way to social media success and winning opportunities and sales for your business!
